As I write Sri Lanka fills me with great delight. The people are wonderful and very friendly. Getting about is easy with Uber and plenty of options bus, train, tuk tuk!
Keto in Sri Lanka is a challenge. No doubt right now I have just knocked myself out of ketosis. Rice and carbs are high here. Avoiding straight refined sugar is pretty easy world over but fructose abounds here too. Oh how I miss all fruits! My usual plan is mainly to stick only to berries and currants. To be honest just raspberries. I eat fresh red or black currants and blackberries too, but not many. In Sri Lanka fruit is often offered with sweet treats and tea.
So what do I do?
When travelling into different countries eggs become a staple and widely available source of protein. Avocado is often available too. I manage to make my usual curries and I just don’t eat the rice or noodles. So curry or stew for a main meal and eggs for a lighter meal. Here in Sri Lanka I’ve enjoyed making a kind of macaroon.
Coconut flour 4 tbsp
Baking powder 1 tsp
Deasicated coconut 3 tbsp
Oil/butter 2 tbsp
1 egg
Mix wet ingredients into dry and form balls. Shallow fry and squish down until both sides golden. Eat for breakfast or as a snack.
I also usually travel with oloves, jerky and cheese crisps.

BTW I haven’t yet for a coffee shop that stocks Almond or Coconut Milk for coffee. Ho hum black it is!
So after posting this I found one. Seed cafe was brilliant from beginning to end. Excellent food. Keto coffee mine was almond milk latte followed by a decaf iced over pour with almond milk to add. Plenty of food to temp anyone with and whilst not all ingredients Keto as they make up plates when ordered you can cut out ingredients.
